The spirit of the journey

Full description

The Great Northern Crossing is designed as a living panorama of northern Morocco. It links the Atlantic metropolis and the Strait of Gibraltar with the Rif Mountains and the imperial cities further south. Casablanca opens the journey with a modern, ocean-facing Morocco before the route turns decisively north.

The Al Boraq high-speed train carries the group to Tangier. Two days explore the Strait, Hercules Caves and the Mediterranean coastline, with Tetouan adding a strong Andalusian cultural dimension. Chefchaouen then brings a quieter mountain atmosphere before the journey continues to Fez.

Three nights in Fez slow the pace. The medina, traditional crafts and monuments form the historical heart of the programme, while a day trip to Ifrane and Azrou introduces the forests and landscapes of the Middle Atlas. The return to Casablanca via Meknes and Rabat completes the loop through several faces of the Kingdom.

An expert tour leader accompanies the group from day one to day ten, while local guides add city-specific insight in the major stops. With just three hotel bases — Casablanca, Tangier and Fez — the journey remains culturally rich without becoming logistically exhausting.

The experience

Signature experiences

Northbound on Al Boraq — Travelling from Casablanca to Tangier by high-speed train creates a clear transition from the Atlantic metropolis to the horizon of the Strait and the cosmopolitan atmosphere of northern Morocco.

Tangier between two seas — The Corniche, Hercules Caves and Strait viewpoints define Tangier’s singular character, positioned between the Atlantic, the Mediterranean and centuries of cultural exchange.

Mediterranean coast & Tetouan — Fnideq, M’Diq, Marina Smir and Martil reveal Morocco’s Mediterranean face before Tetouan adds the architecture and cultural memory of its Andalusian heritage.

Chefchaouen, the blue pause — Set in the Rif Mountains, Chefchaouen brings a gentler rhythm: blue facades, steep lanes and mountain light create one of the journey’s strongest visual contrasts.

Fez and the Middle Atlas — Fez medina forms the historical core of the tour. The excursion to Ifrane and Azrou then opens the landscape toward cedar forests and the Middle Atlas.

Expert context every day — The national tour leader connects history, society, architecture and traditions throughout the ten days, complemented by local guides in Casablanca, Tangier, Chefchaouen and Fez.
