Blue lane of northern Morocco — inspirational image
The spirit of the journey

Full description

This private circuit draws a broad loop through northern Morocco, travelling from Casablanca to the Strait of Gibraltar before crossing the Rif and continuing into the historic cities of the interior. It combines the freedom of a chauffeur-driven journey with multi-night stays and local guided visits where deeper cultural context adds real value.

After Casablanca, the route reaches Tangier and its maritime horizon, then follows the Mediterranean coast towards Tetouan before turning inland to Chefchaouen. The colours of the Rif lead naturally to Fes, where three nights allow time for the medina as well as a change of scenery in the Middle Atlas around Ifrane and Azrou.

The return to Casablanca runs through Meknes and Rabat, two complementary stops for understanding Morocco’s imperial and contemporary identities. The journey is built around contrasts: modern architecture and medinas, Atlantic and Mediterranean, Rif mountains and cedar forests, monumental heritage and everyday life.

Shades of Northern Morocco is designed for travellers who want to experience several sides of the country without changing hotels every night, with private organisation, French-speaking local guides at selected stops and EMIT assistance throughout the trip.

The experience

Signature experiences

Tangier at the Strait — A city facing two seas, with coastal panoramas, the corniche and the Caves of Hercules before the journey continues along the Mediterranean.

Mediterranean coast & Andalusian heritage — Fnideq, M’Diq, Marina Smir, Martil and Tetouan create a day of coastline, light and Arabo-Andalusian architecture.

Chefchaouen in blue — A pause in the Rif where blue-painted lanes create one of Morocco’s most distinctive visual experiences.

Fes, inside the medina — Three nights give the journey more depth, combining a guided introduction to the historic medina with time to absorb its crafts, neighbourhoods and atmosphere.

A different Middle Atlas — Ifrane and Azrou bring forests, mountain landscapes and cedar country into a route often associated only with cities.

Meknes & Rabat — Two final readings of Morocco: the imperial legacy of Meknes and the elegant political capital of Rabat.
