Accommodation
11 nights: Marrakech 4 nights in a 4-star hotel or riad, Imilchil 1 night in Amazigh-style accommodation, Merzouga 1 night in a hotel or camp, M’Hamid 3 nights in a Saharan camp and Ouarzazate 2 nights in a hotel or kasbah-style riad.
Imilchil · M’Hamid · Marrakech · Merzouga · Ouarzazate
Cross the Atlas, meet the dunes of Merzouga, spend three nights around M’Hamid and return through Ouarzazate — a 4x4 group journey in which the desert is not a side trip, but the heart of the experience.
The Nomad Route turns an Atlas-to-Sahara itinerary into a fully interpreted journey. The group leaves Marrakech with a national expert who remains present throughout the twelve days, then climbs toward Imilchil and the high plateaus. Lakes, mountain landscapes and Amazigh traditions introduce a Morocco far removed from the classic main roads.
The route continues toward Merzouga and Erg Chebbi, the first major encounter with the dunes. It then travels deeper south to M’Hamid, where three nights give the Sahara real space in the programme. Erg Chigaga, the silence of the desert and nomadic culture become the centre of the journey rather than a brief excursion.
The 4x4 is part of the experience itself. It connects mountain routes, tracks, oasis country and Saharan landscapes with a suitable vehicle and professional driver, while the expert tour leader and local guides keep the journey strongly rooted in cultural interpretation.
Ouarzazate provides the final southern chapter through earthen architecture, kasbahs and cinematic landscapes before the loop closes in Marrakech. Hotels and riads, Amazigh lodging and Saharan camp nights mirror the changing territories along the way.
Two great Saharan ergs — Erg Chebbi near Merzouga and Erg Chigaga near M’Hamid offer two complementary faces of the Sahara: one iconic and accessible, the other deeper, broader and more remote.
Imilchil beyond the usual routes — Imilchil brings the group into the high plateaus, Amazigh traditions and the landscapes associated with Lakes Isli and Tislit — a genuine mountain chapter before the desert.
Three nights around M’Hamid — Three nights in the M’Hamid region allow the group to slow down and experience desert space, silence, camp life and nomadic culture instead of simply passing through.
4x4 adventure with professional support — A Toyota Land Cruiser or similar vehicle, driven by a professional, is suited to the long distances, tracks and varied terrain that define the journey.
A Morocco expert for all 12 days — The national tour leader provides continuity from day 1 to day 12, interpreting Amazigh and nomadic culture, oasis life, kasbah architecture and the wider story of Morocco.
Ouarzazate and the world of kasbahs — Two nights in Ouarzazate extend the desert story through earthen architecture, kasbah heritage and the cinematic identity of southern Morocco.
